We provide high-quality private musculoskeletal ultrasound using a high fidelity Samsung RS80 scanning system to assess joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and soft tissues.
Ultrasound is a safe, accurate, and non-invasive medical imaging method, that offers real-time insight into your condition. You don't need a referral for scanning with us.
We provide comprehensive diagnostic scans, including full written reports, for the following regions:
Shoulder - £200
Elbow and arm - £100
Wrist - £100
Hand - £100
Thigh (quadriceps or hamstring) - £200
Knee and lower leg - £100
Calf and rear ankle - £100
Ankle (front and sides) - £200
Foot - £100
Please note: All self-referring patients will require an initial consultation before their scan (this is not included in the prices above). This consultation includes a focused clinical history and physical examination to understand your symptoms and ensure an ultrasound scan is appropriate and likely to be beneficial. If a scan is indicated, it can often be performed during the same appointment, or arranged as a follow-up if more time is required. A written medical report is provided whenever scanning is carried out.
Occasionally we may need to scan additional areas (this is not typically needed) at a small additional cost, calculated on an individual case basis. We will always inform you if this is deemed necessary.
If you are an existing patient, or you have been referred by a licensed or regulated healthcare professional, you will not need an initial consultation and the prices listed above will apply.
All pricing includes:
Appropriately qualified medical sonographer
Did you know, in the UK ultrasound providers are currently not legally required to hold any education or training? This means you need to ensure anyone scanning you has the right training and the right qualification to do so.
To address this issue the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) officially recommends all sonographers outside of hospital radiology departments hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound (PgC) from a CASE-accredited university program as the minimum qualification to perform and report medical ultrasound (details here).
Only regulated professionals such as medical doctors, chiropractors, physiotherapists, midwives and podiatrists are eligible to access to CASE-accredited education programs. This is the ONLY qualification recommended by the RCR. We hold this precise qualification and are registered members of the British Medical Ultrasound Society (BMUS).
Hospital-grade imaging quality
We use the Samsung RS80A – a premium ultrasound system comparable to those used in many NHS radiology and orthopaedic departments. This provides exceptionally clear diagnostic imaging, far superior to basic portable scanners which allows us a greater level of diagnostic accuracy.
Musculoskeletal expertise
Your scan is performed by an MSK specialist and not just a general sonographer technician, ensuring clinical accuracy, relevance to your condition, and meaningful guidance on what to do next. You can ask us all the questions you have at the appointment.
Self-referral and referral
We are able to offer scanning through our own internal pathway but we also accept referrals from across South Wales from medical doctors, registered nurses, physiotherapists, podiatrists, osteopaths and chiropractors.
