Ultrasound is safe, comfortable, and radiation-free, making it suitable for most people, including those unable to have MRI.

 Although ultrasound is excellent for soft tissues, it has limitations:

• It cannot see inside bone or assess bone marrow changes
• It cannot directly assess cartilage surfaces inside a joint
• Labral and deep ligament injuries may need MRI if suspected
• Complex chronic wrist instability may require additional imaging
