Find Relief from Disc-Related Irritation

Patient receiving chiropractic treatment for back pain from disc irritation

Disc-Related Irritation

Disc-related irritation occurs when the intervertebral discs - the cushions between your spinal bones, become damaged, degenerate, or bulge, potentially putting pressure on nearby nerves. This can lead to pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness, usually in the back, buttocks, or legs.

Severity varies, and symptoms can range from mild discomfort to debilitating pain that affects daily life.

Common Causes of Disc-Related Irritation

  • Disc herniation or “slipped” disc – when the inner gel-like core pushes through the outer layer, sometimes compressing nerves
  • Degenerative disc disease – age-related wear and tear of discs reducing their cushioning ability
  • Repetitive strain or heavy lifting – overloading the spine can stress discs
  • Trauma or sudden injury – falls, accidents, or sudden twists
  • Postural or lifestyle factors – prolonged sitting, poor ergonomics, or weak core muscles may contribute

Why Choose Us

  • Comprehensive care – combining chiropractic treatment, rehabilitation exercises, and ergonomic guidance in our fully equipped rehab gym
  • Evidence-based approach – all treatments follow the latest NICE and World Health Organisation musculoskeletal guidelines
  • Individualised treatment plans – your plan is tailored to your condition, lifestyle, and goals, not generic handouts
  • Local expertise – trusted care for patients across Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, and Ceredigion

When to Seek Help

Professional assessment is advised if you experience:

  • Persistent or worsening back pain
  • Pain radiating down the leg, buttock, or foot
  • Tingling, pins and needles, or numbness
  • Weakness in the leg or foot
  • Pain aggravated by sitting, bending, or lifting

Seek urgent medical attention if you develop sudden severe weakness,  loss of bladder or bowel control or unexplained weight loss or fever
